  4. Hi Kevin, I was hoping you could give me an advice. I use Word online, because I don't have it on my laptop. And whenever I want to save a file, it ends up being saved as a WordPad file instead as a simple Word file. I hope you'll manage to find my comment in the ocean of messages you probably receive all the time. Thanks.

  6. Yeah, it is the online version rather than getting your own "copy", but I wouldn't have known about this otherwise and this could be very useful for me. Thank you!

  7. A little help, please… Hi Kevin, thanks for your post. You mentioned saving a download to my computer, so I was hoping to be able to edit it off-line, but I Don't seem to be able to. When I open the downloaded doc on my computer, the Microsoft 365 window comes up prompting me to Start a Free Trial or Buy MS 365. The functions in each tab are not active and a comment under the ribbon says "your office product is inactive". IS THIS NORMAL? Conversely, you showed me how I could upload a doc to the cloud and then work with it, but If I don't have Office activated or have a paid version of 365, how could I ever create a doc to upload?

  8. Once this pandemic finally runs it's course, you can go use your local library's computers if you REALLY need access to MS Office, but don't want to pay for it. I wouldn't, however, trust the library's PCs to use on any docs with sensitive info on them, lol!

In that case, use an MS Office alternative Libre Office. Some documents may have formatting issues, most of which can be resolved once you become familiar with how Libre Office works.

Hey, it's 100% free and you get their entire office suite, capable of opening and editting Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint docs. Just be prepared to deal with occasional quirk that comes along..

  9. Thank you! I've been trying to figure out how to use Excell on my brand new Chromebook. I was shocked at the cost of Office. I'm not willing to spend that much money for my home computer plus our two Chromebooks. The salesman suggested we try LibreOffice but being in our 60s we aren't savvy enough to install it on Chromebook since there are multiple settings you need to change. It's been a disaster for us and we flatly gave up!

So thank you for giving us these two options which look very promising for us!

  10. Hello, Kevin, thank you for showing me this trick, I have a question, can you bring the apps from Office to the taskbar?

  11. Will still like to know if this free office can work freely without Internet/ offline. ..”YES OR NO”. Thank you
